What it does
- Syndicates the title, link, and part or all of the content of a unit of information (blog post, newspaper or journal article, business transaction, etc.) via a feed that people can subscribe to.
- Updates subscribers every time content is changed or added.
What you don't need to do if you use RSS
- Wade through as much email in your inbox
- Provide your email address to websites in order to get updates
- Remember to check twenty zillion websites every day
What you do need to do if you want to take advantage of RSS
- Set up a feed reader: web-based, browser-based, or downloadable (more on which soon)

- RSS: 0.9, 0.91, 2.0, etc.
- Atom
